JUSTIFI Multiple Benefits

At the heart of JUSTIFI is the concept of Multiple Benefits. Multiple Benefits are the additional benefits that are realized from energy management projects, but not directly related to energy savings. These can include improved productivity, reduced maintenance costs, and enhanced employee comfort. Understanding and quantifying Multiple Benefits are important because they can significantly increase the overall value of an energy management project and improve project approval.

The JUSTIFI application was developed as a collaborative effort between Oak Ridge National Laboratory (ORNL) and the National Lab of the Rockies (NLR). NLR spearheaded the research effort on Multiple Benefits and is developing a Multiple Benefits Knowledge Library (https://www.nlr.gov/manufacturing/multiple-benefits-of-manufacturing-energy-productivity) in tandem with the JUSTIFI tool.
